The Preschool Blog- Who is Off 4th?

The Owl’s Nest – a community preschool is off 4th. We are located on the beautiful Jericho Military Site and still part of the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House family.
Friday was a very busy day in the nest. We were putting the final touches on our Father’s Day gifts, and wrapping them. The tie shaped cards were attached to the present with a tie pin the children created from a peg. In the frame was a picture of the child holding Mollie or Ollie, the owls they took home for an adventure. The next thing we knew, the dads began to arrive. We were able to meet the dads outside, as Mother Nature kindly provided sun so we could run and play on the grass! When we came in, we sang our special songs. Prior to washing hands for snack, the dads had to guess their own portrait which had been drawn by their child. Some dads chose correctly the first time!! Time for snack. The children carefully served juice, and we ate our fruits and vegetables. Finally, the children could share and eat their “frog cookies” they had baked and decorated. Before we knew it, it was time to sing our good-bye song and give three cheers to our dads!
Happy Father’s Day! Next week is our graduation ceremony.
