Family Programs

Introduction:

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House works in partnership with other community agencies to enhance resources and information for families of the Westside. Our goal is to provide family programs that support the development of early literacy, parent education, community referrals, family networking and support.
We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and innovative learning environment for both the family and the child.


Programs:

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House Parent and Tot Drop-in

Kits House Family Resource Program is dedicated to supporting families with children ages 0 months - 5 years. Come and participate in our spacious child resource centre to meet new friends, receive information and support from
our staff, community health nurse and guest speakers.
We have a consistent routine that incorporates messy art activities, circle time,
outdoor play and hands on child activity centres. Come join the fun!
We meet Mondays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am
With an annual $10.00 family membership & daily
$2.00 drop-in fee.


Mama and Papa Goose

This program creates a buzz around the neighbourhood!
If you have an infant 0-12mths this is the program for you!
Come out for an hour of rhymes, songs and stories to help with support of early literacy. This program stimulates a healthy bond between you and your child, meet new friends and have fun!  This is a ten week program that runs throughout the year. Strenghtening Connections

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House has partnered with UBC Acadia Park & University Apartments to provide Westside Newcomer families with a multicultural resource program that supports the health and development of families with children 0-4 years. This new program is called Strenghtening Connections & is funded by the United Way of the Lower Mainland.

In collaboration with UBC Parents n'Tots drop-in program, Stregthening Connections will promote learning & development through
- play-based learning
- parent education
- health screening & information
- language-sensitive bridging services
- peer-driven activities & more

Parents n' Tots (UBC)

is a free drop-in program with multicultural toys, play dough, snacktime and much more!

Who: Toddlers (0-4 years) & their parents/caregivers
Location: Acadia Park & Apartments
2707 Tennis Crescent, Vancouver, BC, V6T 2C1
When: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
Time: 10:00am-11:30am

Kids Up Front:

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is excited to announce our partnership with Kids Up Front. Founded in Calgary in 1999, Kids Up Front identifies an opportunity to provide entertainment and educational opportunities to kids in need, and their families, through the distribution of unused tickets for special events.

...providing a sense of discovery, dreams and possibilities, one ticket at a time.

Kids up Front have provided our organization the opportunity to distribute tickets to children and families who normally would not have the opportunity to enjoy special events.
