Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) is a unique program funded by the Vancouver Foundation that helps build community and strengthen connections right where people live – in their neighbourhoods.  This program supports residents like you: residents who have small but powerful ideas to bring people together and make your neighbourhood vibrant.

Who can apply?

To apply for a Community or Greenest City Neighbourhood Small Grant you must live in the areas in the map below:

What are the application requirements?

• Applicants must live the areas shown in the map above
• Projects must be sponsored by 2 or more people who live in different households
• The grants are for groups of neighbours or residents only; organizations cannot apply
• Projects must adhere to City Bylaws and be socially acceptable to the majority of the neighbourhood
• Projects must occur in the neighbourhood by November 30th, 2013
• Retroactive funding (for projects that have already occurred) is not available
• Applicants cannot profit financially from the project. Honorariums are generally limited to $50
• Applicants must agree to be part of the evaluation
• Applicants give Kitsilano Neighbourhood House permission to take or use photos for promotional purposes
• Applicants contact information (email/phone) will be shared with other applicants

When is the deadline for NSG applications?

Friday May 31st, 2013 for both Neighbourhood Small Grants and Greenest City Neighbourhood Small Grants.

Every year, Kits House provides subsidies for families to attend Family Camp Weekend; a large number of families would otherwise not be able to afford this great program. Kits House needs your help!

We would like to invite you and your family to help us raise funds for our 2013 Family Camp Fundraising Campaign.

Here are 5 fun and easy ways you and your family can help:

1. Collect Pledges: Ask 5 friends / family to donate $25 – Pledge Forms available and Tax Receipts are available for donations of $25 or more
2. Host a Dinner Night – suggested donation of $10-$15 per person with proceeds going to Kits House
3. Organize a Garage / Yard Sale – spring cleaning time, get the whole family involved, and maybe some neighbours too!
4. Organize a Plant / Bake Sale – the whole family can get involved preparing and selling products, cooking together is a great way for families to bond!
5. Promote Mabel’s Labels – encourage friends / family to purchase customized labels.

The den Ouden Family’s Fundraising Story:

The den Ouden family has attended the annual Kits House Family Camp at Sasamat Lake for the past four years, beginning when their oldest was just 13 months old. They now have three beautiful boys, and nothing would keep them away! In her spare moments between homeschooling the oldest and nursing the youngest, CZarina prepared dinner for 35 people, inviting neighbours from their housing complex by Jericho Beach. Diners were asked to make a donation to Family Camp, and after expenses, $290 was presented to Family Camp. Everyone was amused by the “not a professional kitchen” sign on the door. More importantly, they were delighted by the fabulous butter chicken, Goan meat balls, Kerelan Vegetable curry and dhal served. Special thanks to CZarina’s mum in Australia for long-distance catering advice, and to Donna for her help serving on the day.
