ASSOCIATION OF NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSES OF BC

The Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC) is seeking a visionary and collaborative Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated track record of leadership experience at a strategic and executive level.

About Us:

Established in 1894, ANHBC is one of BC’s largest and longest-standing non-profit organizations. Our vision is for everyone to live in a healthy and engaged community. Our mission is that ANHBC plays a leadership role in building healthy and engaged neighbourhoods by connecting people and strengthening their capacity to create change. ANHBC is comprised of a network of eight Neighbourhood Houses in the Lower Mainland along with the Sasamat Outdoor Centre. Through our 50 plus sites in the region, we operate more than 300 community-based programs and serve more than 100,000 individual neighbours. We employ more than 500 staff and engage thousands of volunteers. Our annual operating expenses for the 2018-2019 fiscal year totalled $25 million and we have been growing at a pace of 5 plus percent for the past several years. About the Role:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO assists the organization in setting strategy and vision, in building a positive culture and in ensuring the financial health of the organization. The CEO is expected to effectively manage the operations, assets, and budget of the organization, and foster strong relationships with the Board, the Senior Leadership Team and the Community Board of each Neighbourhood House and Camp to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of the organization through collaboration and from a grass-roots and strength-based approach. As the public face of ANHBC, the CEO is expected to raise the profile of the organization and represent and promote the objectives of ANHBC through relationships with all stakeholders including communities, businesses, funding organizations, individual donors, government representatives at all levels, and the general public.

The role also requires the CEO to be the Executive Director of, and facilitate ANHBC’s strategic partnership in neighbourhood house development with, the Alexandra Foundation and the Alexandra Housing Society.

Building and developing relationships is key in community development and the neighbourhood house movement. We are proud of the long-lasting relationships we build at our neighbourhood houses and summer camps within our local communities. You have an excellent track record of building and fostering strong and collaborative relationships with boards of directors, staff and volunteers to create a culture of trust and respect. You have demonstrated ability and success in seeking and developing relationships with funders, donors and all levels of government representatives while remaining non-partisan.

  • Exceptional Communicator

You are an experienced and skillful communicator with a strong executive presence and ability to inspire, engage, motivate and mobilize various levels of stakeholders in all walks of life, in order to share ANHBC’s vision, mission and values, and advance the goals and objectives of ANHBC. When conflicts or competing priorities arise, you listen, you facilitate and build consensus among and across teams..
