Job Posting - Seniors Program Assistant – PT 18 hrs/week

Job Purpose:

The Seniors Program Assistant will work collaboratively and under the supervision of the Program Coordinator to support the administration and delivery of the Seniors Links and Kitsilano Better at Home programs. These initiatives provide non-medical support services for local seniors so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with administration and promotion of Kits House non-medical home support programs
  • Create and update communication materials, and arrange for translations as needed
  • Maintain programs Database, ensuring detailed statistics and all relevant program documentation are kept up to date
  • Update and monitor financial tracking and invoicing system
  • Process service requests and make appropriate referrals
  • Assist with other program activities as needed; intakes, scheduling, and meeting/event planning
  • Support and participate in monthly Advisory Committee meetings; minute taking
  • Participate in knowledge transfer by attending relevant program meetings
  • Collect feedback regarding the progress and performance of the programs
  • Assist with recruitment and orientation of volunteers and student workers
  • Assist in monitoring the safety and security of volunteers and student workers
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders of the programs
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers as part of a larger community support team


  • One year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience working with seniors and volunteers; familiar with community resources
  • Demonstrated experience in administration, record-keeping and/or invoicing
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and good telephone manner
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite and demonstrated experience with Access Database or other database systems
  • Detail-oriented, flexible and able to multi-task
  • Familiarity and commitment to the Neighbourhood House Model of service delivery
  • Understands and values diversity
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with policies and procedures regarding confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours and participate in KNH special events
  • Second language is a strong asset
  • Criminal record check required

Job Details:

Salary: $16.20 / hour

Schedule: 18 hours weekly; hours scheduled Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm

Location: Kits House Seniors Resource Centre at 8th & Vine St., Vancouver

Expected Start Date: ASAP
