Job Posting - Seniors Program Coordinator

Job Purpose

The Seniors Program Coordinator works collaboratively with volunteers, local seniors and partners, and under the direction of the Manager of Family & Seniors Programs, to coordinate senior-led programming that respond to emerging needs for older adults. Projects and programs include: senior-led Westside Hub, one-stop Seniors Resource Centre, information & referral services, and peer groups.

She/he brings excellent leadership, volunteer coordination, and community development skills to support the engagement, growth and retention of volunteers, strengthen collaboration with local stakeholders, and enhance access to information and advocacy supports for residents, older adults and seniors on the Westside.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support senior-led wellness, social connection and resource programs in collaboration with volunteers
  • Organize educational workshops based on emerging needs for local seniors
  • Build a welcoming and accessible space at the one-stop Seniors Resource Centre
  • Actively engage seniors in program development and decision making
  • Coordinate and support program Advisory Committees and Hub Council
  • Strengthen volunteer leadership and capacity to support isolated and vulnerable seniors
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with community partners and program stakeholders
  • Monitor program outcomes, statistics, and expenses
  • Conduct program evaluations and prepare reports for funders

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in related human/social service field
  • Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of post secondary education, training and experience
  • Experience coordinating and delivering multi-stakeholder programs
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and community engagement
  • Knowledge and experience in conflict resolution, consensus decision making and issue advocacy are strong assets
  • Experience working with seniors and older adults with disabilities
  • Knowledge of seniors’ issues and local community resources
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a team of volunteers and committees
  • Familiarity with peer support is a strong asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Assertive, open-minded, and able to thrive in a dynamic work environment
  • Creative, enthusiastic, adaptable, and a good sense of humor
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to and understanding of the Neighbourhood House Model of service delivery
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers as part of a larger community support team
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to work flexible hours and participate in Kits House special events
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, data management, internet research, and basic graphic design (MS Publisher)
  • Knowledge of logic models or outcome measurement frameworks is an asset
  • Second language is an asset
  • Criminal record check required

Job Details:

Salary: $18.80 – $21.00 / hour + benefits, dependent on experience and training

Schedule: 35 hours weekly; hours scheduled between 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday

Location: Kits House Seniors Resource Centre at 8th & Vine St., Vancouver
