Neighbourhood House Week
Neighbourhood House week is a week long celebration that Neighbourhood Houses exist and are here to serve the community! Kits House along with other Neighbourhood Houses each celebrate in their own unique way. This year Kits House will be offering various free programs and events between May 5th – May 11th – check out the schedule tab for the list of events!
2019 Neighbourhood House Week marks 125 years of Neighbours Growing Neighbourhoods. Ever since the first BC Neighbourhood House opened in Vancouver in 1938 (which had been an orphanage since 1894 and is now named Kits House) a wide diversity of people have found a home in their local Neighbourhood House. Yet many in our neighbourhoods have little or no knowledge of what we do here and how we contribute to making the Westside of Vancouver a vibrant, healthy and thriving place.

BBQ & Workshop
We’ll be hosting a BBQ at Kits House (2305 West 7th Ave) on Wednesday May 8th from 5:00 – 7:00pm. We’ll also make sure to have veggie options for the vegetarians out there, on top of that we’ll even have some fun carnival games to play!
In addition to the BBQ we’ll have a “Near and Dear” workshop – a fun community conversation and experience exploring the many people, places, businesses and groups that make up our great neighbourhood – hosted by Joe Erpenbeck, Director of Asset Based Community Development. This will be a chance to connect with others who live and work in the area.
