Bumblebear Daycare creates a community of learning, where community development work meets early childhood education. We embrace the process of learning, encouraging our teachers to be present, listening and growing alongside our children. We support the interests of the children. The materials offered to the children are rich with creative possibilities. Highly qualified staff ensure a Reggio Emelia inspired approach to learning through their delight in children, an understanding of the value of play, their vision, heart, knowledge, skills, and a strong commitment to families. We encourage our learners to think creatively, to innovate, while experiencing the world through compassionate eyes.
“Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning how to learn.” Loris Malaguzzi
Reggio- Inspired Philosophy: The Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education is based on the experience and knowledge gained in the Reggio Emilia Municipal Infant/Toddler and Preschool Centers in Italy over the last forty years. Learning is viewed as a journey, and education as building relationships with people (both children and adults), creating connections between ideas and the environment. Through this approach, adults help children understand the meaning of their experience more completely through documentation of the children’s work, observations, and continuous teacher-child dialogue. The Reggio approach guides children’s ideas with provocations—not predetermined curricula. There is collaboration on many levels: parent participation, teacher discussions, and community involvement.
