A Volunteer’s Guide to Seniors Peer Support and Information & Referral was made possible through the support of the 2017/2018 Vancouver Coastal Health, Health Promotion Grant. The primary aim of this funding is to support partnership development between non-profit organizations working toward community capacity building and health promotion. This funding enabled Kitsilano Neighbourhood House to partner with and work closely with partner organizations: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, South Vancouver Neighbourhood House, Vancouver Second Mile Society, and West End Seniors Network between August 2017 and March 2018 to develop this shared resource and accompanying training program. The primary aim of these efforts is to provide practical, consistent guidance to volunteers who are supporting seniors in Seniors Peer Support and Information & Referral programs.
The insight and expertise found within these materials reflects the collective efforts of many organizations, volunteers and staff who were extremely generous in sharing their time, materials and resources in the development of this guide and training program. Kits House is so grateful for everyone who shared their time, support, materials and resources to make this project possible! We hope you will find this to be a helpful and practical resource within your agency.
