Family & Friend Caregiver Connect

About

Many of us support a loved one or friend without realizing we’re actually caregivers. If you help someone with their daily needs—like managing appointments, cooking meals, providing emotional support, or assisting with mobility — you may be a caregiver.

Take a moment to explore this short Self-Assessment Checklist from Family Caregivers of BC to see if this role applies to you.

You’re not alone — support is available! If this applies to you — check out The Caregiver Connector Program

Funded by the United Way of BC, the F&F Caregivers Connect program at KNH offers a point of contact & connection for those who are caregiving for, or as, an older adult in our community.

This program Invites Older Adults or Seniors (55+) who are, or are caring for a Family member or friend.

A New Monthly Support Group

Launched in February 2025, Kitsilano Neighbourhood House has introduced a new program for caregivers and care partners. Guided by the principles of the Family Caregivers of British Columbia, this group meets once a month with a trained facilitator to hold space for you. In each session, we focus on creating a warm, safe, and supportive environment where participants can openly share their experiences and challenges in caring for another.  Whether you are new to caregiving or have been supporting a loved one for years, this group provides an opportunity to build connections, gain insights, and feel supported.

Drop in and find support—you’re not alone.

Date: Last Tuesday of the Month

Time: 10:30am – 12:00pm

Location: Seniors Resource Centre, 2425 Vine Street, Vancouver BC (Corner of 8th Ave and Vine Street)

The Memory Buddy Program

The Memory Buddy program pairs trained volunteers with individuals living with dementia or memory loss for one-on-one visits each week. Whether it’s a walk, a program, or a heartfelt chat, this is a chance to connect, share stories, and offer caregiver respite in a dementia-friendly way. Flexible, compassionate, and supported by staff.
