What to know before booking
Rental time and setup
Your booked time must include loading in, setup, the event, takedown, cleanup, and loading out. Renters are responsible for their own setup, takedown, and basic cleanup. Rooms are rented as is and must be left in the same condition.
Fees and deposits
- All rentals require a security deposit of $100–$500, based on the
size and type of event. - A $100 cleaning fee applies to rentals with food or beverages, or
when cleanup is not completed to Kits House’s satisfaction. - A $200 cleaning fee applies to weddings and birthday parties with
food or beverages in the Community Hall. - Copyrighted music may require an additional SOCAN tariff.
- Optional equipment is available for an additional fee.
Food, beverages, and alcohol
Food and beverages are permitted. Alcohol requires advance permission from Kits House and a valid Liquor Special Event Permit. Kits House must receive the required permit at least 14 days before the rental.
Insurance
Proof of liability insurance is required for all rentals.
Noise and neighbourhood care
Kits House is a shared, mixed-use building with residents on site. Noise must remain within City of Vancouver limits: no more than 55 dBA before 10 p.m. and 45 dBA after 10 p.m. Community Hall doors and windows must remain closed after 10 p.m.
Values and safety
Rental requests are reviewed through a community and values lens. Kits House prioritizes rentals that are inclusive, respectful, and accessible; strengthen community connection, learning, or wellbeing; foster positive relationships and collaboration; and support community-led, non-profit, or social-purpose initiatives.
Renters must follow safety guidelines, keep exits and emergency routes clear, stay within room capacities, and ensure guests do not disrupt other programs or neighbours.
Location and parking
Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is at 2305 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, near Vine Street.
One parking space may be available for the event host. Limited free street parking is available nearby, and metered parking is available on West Broadway and West 4th Avenue. Bike racks are located at the front of the building.
Nearby bus routes include the #4, #7, #14, and #99 B-Line.
