Kits House Tech Mate Library, is a tablet lending program to help seniors in the West Side neighbourhood get connected through the internet to family, friends and Kits House online programs.
Volunteers at Kits House will be trained to teach seniors how to safely use a loaned tablet to access online programs and learn other services like video calling, email and internet search. Volunteers will arrange to safely drop off a tablet at a participant’s home and get them up and running. Technical help can be arranged by calling in to Kits House and scheduling a call back time with a volunteer.
Technology doesn’t have to be an obstacle to being in touch with loved ones or participating in Kits House programs from their own home. COVID is keeping people apart but the Tech Mate program can help reduce isolation and get participants involved.
Tablet and instructions will be provided upon registration in to the program.
- Kits House annual membership paid via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
- Completed damage deposit form
This program is in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health.
There is a one-time drop off of a tablet by a volunteer to a registered program participants’ home. Technical support will be provided as needed over the phone and is scheduled by the calling into Kits House.
