Hi, I’m Gemma — the Coordinator for Community Programs at Kits House, and I’d love to share an opportunity to help bring more community-led activities to life in our Living Room space.
Kits House is your neighbourhood hub for connection, creativity, and community. Whether you’re new to the area or have lived here for years, Kits House is a place where everyone belongs.
One of the beautiful things about working here is seeing how people come together to share their time, talents, and passions. That’s the heart of the Neighbourhood House model — it’s all about helping people in the community share their gifts with others. Whether it’s a skill, a story, or simply a willingness to connect, we believe everyone has something valuable to offer.
We have a cozy Living Room space that’s available Monday to Friday, from 9am to 2pm, and we’d love to see it used more often for community-led workshops, gatherings, or creative sessions. These could be anything from a one-time event to a weekly or monthly meetup, or even just a casual drop-in activity.
Some ideas we’ve heard from the community include things like collage, drawing, painting, knitting, crochet, puzzles, Lunch & Learns, a Repair Café, or even a Book Club or Movie Club. But truly — the possibilities are endless! And here’s the best part: you don’t need to be an expert. If you’re curious, passionate, or just want to bring people together, that’s more than enough.
Our goal at Kits House is to be a place for connection and community building — a home away from home where people feel welcome, supported, and inspired. If you have an idea or just want to chat about possibilities, I’d love to hear from you. Contact me at gemmah@kitshouse.org.
