Saturday, April 18 | 10:00 am–12:00 pm
Maple & 6th (Arbutus Greenway)
Join the Kits House Environment Committee for a hands-on Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 18, from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Arbutus Greenway (Maple & 6th).
Generously supported by Hunter’s Garden Centre, this event features a fun “Plant a Friend” activity — you’ll plant a seed to take home and even give your new green companion a name! (Fun fact: named plants actually tend to thrive better under our care).
We’ll also have microscopes for a closer look at soil, plant leaves, and even a few worms from a worm composter! Plus, we’ll be right beside City Farmer’s Vancouver Compost Demonstration Garden — a great spot to explore their climate adaptation garden, green roof, cob shed, and more.
To top it off, local horticulturist Allison Luke will lead a Tree Tour in the neighbourhood. The walking tour will wind through the tree?lined streets of Kitsilano. Discover what makes our neighbourhood’s trees special, how you can help care for the urban forest, and share your own favourite trees. Meet up at 10:30am at Maple & 6th Ave.
